We have provided various extra-curricular activities during the week:

  • Free tickets
    As part of your registration pack you will receive one free ticket for entry to the University Botanic Gardens and one for the Oriental Museum. Both are within walking distance of the Science Site where the talks are being held.

  • Reception
    Included in your registration fee is a reception from 7pm-9:30pm on Sunday evening. This will take place on the top floor of the Calman Centre (the same building as the lectures are being held in). A cold buffet and drinks will be provided. Note that Event Durham will be manning the registration desk from 7pm at the same location.

The following items cost extra and should be booked during the Event Durham on-line registration process:
  • Lindisfarne Gospels Exhibition
    We are please to announce that we have managed to book a number of tickets for the prestigious Lindisfarne Gospels Exhibition one Palace Green in Durham (near the Castle and Cathedral). To quote "The Lindisfarne Gospels book is one of the greatest landmarks of human cultural achievement. Created by the community of St Cuthbert on Lindisfarne it is one of the best examples of creativity and craftsmanship from Medieval times.". The cost will be £6.50 per person.

    PLEASE NOTE: entry is controlled by timeslot - your ticket will entitle you to entry between 8 and 8:15pm on Tuesday 23rd.

  • Cathedral Tour
    We will be offering a guided tours of Durham Cathedral at 4:30pm on Tuesday and Wednesday. Cost will be £5 per person. Unfortunately this is the latest time the Cathedral can offer, so you will have to miss some talks - however, you will be given the opportunity to sign up for your preferred day when you arrive at the conference.

  • Castle Tour
    We will be offering a guided tours of Durham Castle on Wednesday, before the Conference Dinner. Cost will be £5 per person. Tours will start at 6:30pm.

  • River Tyne Boat Trip
    On the Thursday evening we offer a cruise along the River Tyne, from the centre of Newcastle out to Tynemouth and back. The cost of this trip will be £25 per person. A buffet, introductiory drink and disco will be provided! A bar is available to purchase your own drinks (until 11pm). Participants will be taken coach from Durham at 6pm, for boarding at 7pm. The return coach will leave Newcastle at 11:15pm.
