The animiation shows the daily track of the Sun across the sky at the time of the summer solstice as seen from Latitude = +75°. At this date at this high latitude the Sun is continuously above the horizon. The Sun reaches a maximum altitude of 38.5° i.e. (90° &minus 75° + 23.5°) when due south at noon. The Sun reaches a minimum altitude of 8.5° i.e. (23.5° − 15°) when due north at midnight. The track of the Sun across the sky is the same as the Dec = +23.5° line.
