The venue

The conference venue is the new Calman Learning Centre on the university's Science Site, right next to the Department of Physics. The meeting will be held on the top floor of the Learning Centre in the Kingsley Barret room (CLC407) and lunch and refreshments will be served in the Derman Christopherson room (CLC406).

We're located within a short walking distance from the city centre and about 1.5 miles south from the train station (see map below).

By train

Fast trains from most major centres in the UK call at Durham daily. The National Express high speed service takes a little under 3 hours from London King's Cross on the East Coast main line.

By air

Durham is 30 minutes' drive from Newcastle International Airport and Durham Tees Valley Airport, both of which have regular domestic and international flights.

Parking

Please let us know in advance if you're driving so we can request parking permits for the Science Site. Alternatively, there are various places to park in the city area, one option being the Park and Ride service (open between 7am-7pm at Howlands, close to the Science Site). Parking is £ 1.70 for the day and includes a daily bus ticket.
