  Official start of the anniversary celebrations, at the Sociedade de Geografia de Lisboa in Portugal. This includes addresses by José Cassandra, President of Príncipe and Prof. José Mariano Gago, Portuguese Minister for Science.

  Popular lecture on gravitational lensing by Prof. Pedro Ferreira at the Sociedade de Geografia de Lisboa.

  Opening of an illustrative exhibition of the progress made in gravitational lensing from 1919 to the present day. This will be installed in conjunction with other historical exhibitions in the capital of São Tomé.
