5-year ICC Fellowship in Cosmology

The Institute for Computational Cosmology invites applications for the Robert and MeiLi Hefner Foundation Fellowship in Unbounded Cosmology, a five-year research fellowship starting in or around September 2027 (start date negotiable).

We are looking for candidates with an outstanding personal research vision for the coming five years in computational cosmology, interpreted broadly, and a track record showing it can credibly be delivered. The Fellowship supports a bold and distinctive research programme, and we expect the successful candidate to collaborate with members of the ICC and other Durham groups (CEA, CfAI and IPPP) and to be comfortable presenting their work to a wide range of audiences, including outreach and philanthropic partners. Applicants must hold, or expect to hold by the start date, a PhD or equivalent.

The application deadline is 27 November 2026, with online interviews for shortlisted candidates expected in late January 2027. Details and how to apply.

There are multiple fully funded PhD studentships available each year, and we also welcome applications from self-funded students. We encourage you to contact potential supervisors in advance of submitting an application, to discuss your research interests and potential projects.
