VAM2025:agn

Accretion onto supermassive black holes shares many similar features to accretion onto stellar mass objects, as well as many differences. The second week will explore our understanding of AGN, both their intrinsic continuum and the wind and jets which they launch, and how all these change with black hole mass, mass accretion rate and across cosmic time.

The meeting dates are set to 30 June - 4 July June 2025. Participants are invited to express interest and pre-register at this stage. Program and selected talks and posters will be defined by early April 2025.

Topics for discussion will include:

  • Geometrically thin and thick accretion flows
  • The soft X-ray excess
  • Multi-wavelength variability with black hole mass, accretion rate and spin
  • Disk/jet geometry through polarisation
  • Winds and outflows: UFOs, warm absorbers and broad line region
  • Jets from radio quiet and radio loud AGN
  • Tidal disruption events
  • Populations & surveys
