Our Culture
The Astronomy and Instrumentation groups at Durham University are strongly committed to promoting a positive and equitable learning and working environment for everyone. Through a range of initiatives and strategies, we are working hard to build a culture where individuals of all backgrounds can bring their unique perspective to our group with a common goal in mind -- to make new discoveries and learn about the Universe.
We continue to improve our culture through our hiring strategy, training, IDEA days, and monitoring. Members of our group are deeply engaged with the broader equality, diversity, and inclusion efforts of the Durham Physics EDI team. All visitors and members of our group are expected to adhere to our Code of Conduct. We have a dedicated task force to develop and implement new ideas, and monitor the climate at our institution.
